Band Member Bios Whiskey Ridge began as a mere brain storm in March of 2009 at a local talent contest when Marlyn and Doug first met. Doug was hosting the talent show while Marlyn went on to take 2nd place in the competition, and the two seemed to have an automatic connection. Talks about forming a new country / rock band began, and well as they say, the rest is history. Marlyn joined forces with Doug, Aaron and Rob (currently in a band called Neon Moon) and Whiskey Ridge was born. Marlyn Quast Music runs in Marlyn's family. From many cousins and grandparents who were all musical, to a brother (Brock T. Quast) who performs locally and in the US (and who has a voice as smooooooth as butter!). Although Marlyn has been singing for 15 years, her past focus had been assisting other talent find their place in the industry. Marlyn has worked with some fabulous song writers and producers across Canada and in Nashville by teaming them up with local artists. She has also been a booking manager and promotions manager for some local talent, as well as a web designer and vocal coach. In 1983 he joined a Calgary based band called "Prototype" and their first album was released shortly after. The album almost went gold due to the success of 3 singles, "Video Kids", "Behind Your Eyes", and "I'm Sorry". The second album was never released and the band broke up Soon after that, Doug joined forces with another local band called Steeler and spent the next 4 years travelling across Canada. After playing in several more bands after that, Doug played a gig in Medicine Hat where he met his wife Lynne, and soon after was making the move to the Hat. According to Doug he has enjoyed a lot of success in the Gas City with his single act "The Rock n Roll Time Machine" as well as his other bands Neon Moon, Piston Broke and now Whiskey Ridge. As Doug has been quoted saying "Long live the music because without it even the richest man is poor ... " Aaron Dirk Bio coming soon ... Rob Malek Bio coming soon ... |
